The Italian giants are currently 10th in Serie A and a long way off third place, with only the top three in the table gaining entry into Europe’s top club competition.
A big name such as Toure surely wouldn’t settle for a season out of the Champions League, and this may give City a boost in their efforts to keep the Ivory Coast international.
Inter manager Roberto Mancini, formerly of City, has been keen to bring his former player with him to the San Siro.
