Shot stopper has been linked with a switch to Camp Nou this summer.
Inter have reportedly told Barcelona they are willing to part with ‘keeper Samir Handanovic, but will only accept a bid worth €30m.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Catalans have contacted Inter about signing the Slovenian star, and have made an informal bid of €23m after tracking their target throughout last season.
The Spanish giants are in the market for a ‘keeper following the news earlier this month that Victor Valdes would not be extending his contract next summer, thus sparking an early search for perhaps a more immediate successor.
However, club owner Massimo Moratti is not willing to allow his player to leave unless the bid is closer to €30m, after Handanovic has impressed since his switch from Udinese last year.
The 28-year-old has been one of the most consistent performers in Italy over the years, performing heroics on a consistent basis in Udine and more recently at San Siro.
He has a wealth of experience in Europe and given that he has yet to reach what is widely recognised as a goalkeeper’s peak years, it would appear that Barca have found the ideal replacement for Valdes.
However, if they are to reach a deal with Inter they will have to increase their offer to satisfy Moratti, who will be under pressure to reinvest the money straight back into the squad as new boss Walter Mazzarri looks to rebuild the squad.
It is unclear at this stage as to whether Barcelona will be willing to pay that fee, but it would appear that Inter are at least willing to negotiate.
