Cricket fans in the United Kingdom will be able to watch every ball live of the Indian Premier League from 2015 in a new deal announced today.
British Sky Broadcasting has been awarded the telecast, internet and mobile rights for the 2015, 2016 and 2017 seasons of the Indian Premier League, for the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, and the European territories.
Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports, said: “It’s the cricket competition that everyone is talking about and from next year, only on Sky Sports can viewers follow the IPL live. Sky Sports’ cricket coverage has never been stronger, offering something for everyone including the major Test playing nations, the best players and now the world’s richest competition. We can’t wait.”
The Indian Premier League will enter its seventh season in 2014, with its popularity growing dramatically not just in the subcontinent, but around the world.
