The first round of fixtures in the 2014 IPL will be hosted in the UAE.
The first 20 matches of the 2014 IPL will be held in the UAE and the fixtures list for the seventh addition of the Twenty20 tournament has been announced.
As is tradition the reigning champions – currently the Mumbai Indians – will host the first match and this year the opponents will be the 2012 winners Kolkata Knight Riders.
However, instead of being in Mumbai this game will take place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, for the first time since the IPL was launched in 2008.
Two other venues, Sharjah’s CA Stadium and Dubai International Cricket Stadium, will also host the first third of the competition, with the remaining 40 matches to be held in India.
Those fixtures will be announced later in the year, with Bangladesh also being considered as an alternative host nation as the IPL looks to expand its audience.
