There’s a very Australian feel with Shane Watson, James Faulkner and Steve Smith.
Last year’s surprise package in the IPL were Rajasthan Royals as the franchise made the semi-finals and looked like genuine title contenders.
As it was eventual champions Mumbai Indians knocked Rajasthan out in the semis, but the team will be looking to grow in 2014 now the IPL Auction is concluded.
The Royals retained their maximum allowance of five players and as usual did not break the bank in the auction.
Here’s an in-depth team analysis of Rajasthan ahead of the seventh edition of the IPL:
Captain – unknown
Last year’s quiet, but successful campaign was lead by the man known affectionately as ‘The Wall’, Rahul Dravid.
The veteran Indian has now retired from the game however and leaves the post of skipper open to a number of potential candidates – with Steve Smith perhaps the most likely as the Aussie is tipped to be the future Test captain for the Baggy Greens.
