The 31-year-old isn’t expecting it to be plain sailing for the Golden Deers in the tournament
Kelantan FA captain Mohd Badhri Radzi believes the Malaysia Cup holders will have their work cut out defending the crown.
The Golden Deers have been marked down as favourites to win the tournament for a second year in succession following their 2012 triumph after being drawn in Group C alongside Pahang, Terengganu and Negri Sembilan.
Despite possessing a relatively straightforward route to the knock-out stage Bahdri feels that the FA Cup winners should be wary of being overconfident as other teams will view them as a big scalp.
“It will not be easy defending the Malaysia Cup crown. We will be the team to beat and everybody will raise their game against us,” the 31-year-old said to The Star.
“Having said that, it is not in the Kelantan team’s nature to give up without a fight and we will be fully prepared to battle till the end.”
Bahdri will be hoping to put a miserable few months behind him after he was forced to pull out of the Malaysia squad for the warm-up matches ahead of the Asian Cup qualifiers and the glamour friendlies against Chelsea and Barcelona.
