Versatile star will not be heading to the Premier League this summer.
The agent of Juventus midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Sunderland this summer.
The 28-year-old had been paired with a switch to the Black Cats after his impressive displays at the Confederations Cup last month, but his agent has ruled out that possibility and insisted the player is happy in Turin.
Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio had reportedly signed off a bid of €10m for the versatile midfielder, but it would appear he will be left disappointed after it was confirmed the player was not on the market.
Giaccherini made a big impression in Brazil last month, scoring against the hosts in their Group A meeting while also turning in some noticeable performances throughout the tournament.
However, he remains a bit-part player at Juve, with his versatility allowing coach Antonio Conte to field him in various positions in case of injury or lack of form.
It is understood that Giaccherini has not asked for a move or even made the club aware of being unhappy with his situation, as his agent responded to questions from reporters regarding his future.
“Myself and my partner have not called anyone, and also [Juventus director general Giuseppe] Marotta has made it very clear on the future of Giaccherini,” he told Furio Valcareggi IlSussidiario.net as reported by Sky Sports.
“And he gets on well with Antonio Conte, who is a great coach and he has no intention of selling him – he is not for sale.”
Asked if the player was looking for a move, he added: “Absolutely not, he is fine at Juventus.
“He has the confidence of everyone and still wants to win so much. I believe Juventus are in a strong shape to win a third consecutive title.”
While the Bianconeri are undoubtedly favourites to seal a hat-trick of Scudetti next year, it is clear that Giaccherini plans to be a part of their forthcoming campaign.
