Juventus and Italy player Sebastian Giovinco could be moving to Arsenal this month, after his agent admitted to holding talks with the Premier League leaders, the Metro reports.
The 26-year-old playmaker, who stands at just 5 ft. 5″, could come in and act as attacking midfield cover for the Gunners, who currently top the table following a string of impressive, ground out victories.
The Gunners contacted the 17 cap Italian international’s agent Claudio Pasqualin, enquiring as to the availability of his client.
“We have had contact with Arsenal,” the agent said.
“It was a request for information about his situation. There was nothing more [at the moment].”
This season, the talented playmaker has been very much a peripheral figure with the Old Lady this term, and has only been given two starts for the Serie A table toppers.
He’s come off the bench seven times, but will likely be keen to leave the club on a loan in search of some first-team football that will give him a chance to get back in Cesare Prandelli’s Italy squad before Brazil 2014.
Arsenal though, have the likes of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tomas Rosicky, Sergne Gnabry and Lukas Podolski as fit attacking midfield options – so it seems unlikely Giovinco would be prioritised over a striker.
