Burak Yilmaz is set to join Serie A team Lazio…
Galatasaray’s Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz is set to join Serie A club Lazio, for a fee of around €25m, reports Italian website Football Italia.
The 28-year-old has shot to prominence in the past few seasons, where he has scored 67 goals for both Trabzonspor and Galatasaray. As a result, the striker is eager to test his ability in one of Europe’s elite leagues, and Lazio are willing to give him the chance.
The poacher will set the Serie A side back around €25m, which make him the most expensive Turkish footballer in history.
Liverpool and Arsenal were rumoured to be interested in the forward, as a possible alternative option to Luis Suarez. Arsenal have been aggressively pursuing the Uruguayan forward all summer, and Liverpool would need a top class replacement if they eventually decide to cash in on the controversial 26-year-old.
It appears that another possible striking talent for either club is set to sign for a different European club, however. Arsenal missed out on Gonzalo Higuain, who joined Napoli from Real Madrid, and have been told by Liverpool in no uncertain terms that Luis Suarez will not be leaving the club this month.
The Gunners also slipped to an embarrassing opening day Premier League defeat at home to Aston Villa, and fans are desperate for Arsene Wenger to bring in the top quality attacker he so desires.
