One of the most talked about potential transfer moves this summer has been AC Milan and Italy striker Mario Balotelli’s mooted move to Arsenal, a deal that could be getting close after reports from the Mail suggested that the former Manchester City man is desperate for his move to North London to go through.
The root of Balotelli’s unhappiness seems to be a fear that he will be scapegoated for Italy’s premature exit from the 2014 FIFA World Cup, with the AC Milan man having struggled to make an impact against Costa Rica and Uruguay after scoring the winning goal against England in their opening match.
Arsenal are on the lookout for a world class centre forward to challenge Olivier Giroud for his place as the spearhead of the Arsenal attack and Balotelli seems to fit the bill, despite some concerns surrounding his temperament and apparent lack of consistency.
Balotelli has already made his name in England once, winning the Premier League with Manchester City but grabbing as many headlines for his off-the-field antics as his exploits on the pitch under Roberto Mancini.
His performances for both Milan and Italy over the last year have, however, indicated a degree of maturity to Balotelli’s game that has not always been there previously, indicating that he has perhaps turned a corner.
