Young England star has just endured a stop-start first season in the north west.
Injury-plagued Manchester City midfield player Jack Rodwell has promised the club’s fans that they have still to see the very best of his talents at Eastlands, reports the Daily Mirror.
The promising England international has only been in the north west for just the one season, having signed for the then Premier League champions from Everton on a five-year deal worth £12 million last August.
However, it is fair to say that the 22-year-old did not enjoy his debut campaign with the club following a series of niggling hamstring injuries that curtailed the number of appearances that he made for City.
In fact, Rodwell featured in only 12 Premier League fixtures under former City head coach Roberto Mancini last season, while overall for the club the player made just 15 appearances in all competitions, and managing to find the back of the net twice against Norwich City in the final top-flight game of the campaign.
And now the youngster wants to show the club’s supporters his true value next season, saying:“I have a lot to prove to City fans, as they haven’t seen the best of me yet, so I’m excited about that.
“It’s a new chapter for me, and coming back for pre season will be a fresh start – almost like a new career.”
