The 23-year-old is currently sidelined after suffering an injury before the start of the season, and isn’t expected to return until late January, as reported by London24.
However, despite his absence, Arsene Wenger’s side have regrouped after their opening-weekend defeat to West Ham to top the Premier League table after their win over Everton on Saturday evening.
With competition for places increasing as well as the French tactician seemingly settling with a preferred line-up with Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin in front of the defence, it remains to be seen whether or not Wilshere is able to get back in the side without injuries forcing a change.
The England international insisted that he would prefer to play in a deeper role, but the Gunners have performed well with the Cazorla and Coquelin combination.
While the Frenchman is a combative presence in the Arsenal midfield and plays a crucial role in retrieving possession, his teammate has been highly impressive as he dictates possession and the tempo of games to allow the forwards go out and win them for the club.
Whether or not Wilshere can displace either teammate is unclear, but he remains confident that Arsenal can put together a sustained title bid this year, as reported by Sky Sports, and he will undoubtedly be hopeful that he can contribute to that push sooner rather than later.
