Recently Martinez has been brought to the attention of Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal, who is said to be looking into signing a replacement for loanee forward Radamel Falcao at the end of the season.
But reports in Portugal are claiming he could reject a move to Old Trafford as he feels he would be more wanted at Arsenal after taking in Arsene Wenger’s praise last week.
“He could play in the Premier League, Jackson Martinez, because he has the body to make the difference,” Wenger said.
“He uses in a very intelligent way his body, very short backlift and is a very good finisher.”
Martinez also revealed that he would be leaving Portugal at the end of the season, though whoever wants him will have to meet the club’s £32m valuation.
“In the summer I’ll leave Porto for a new team,” said Martinez.
“Players develop well in Portugal, and I thank the club for making me the player I am today.
“However, it’s time for a new adventure, to grow from a professional point of view.”
