Jaguars look to select the best player available and give Blaine Gabbert a chance at Quarterback.
The Jacksonville Jaguars looked to offensive tackle Luke Joeckel to become the cornerstone of the offensive line, as they look to aid troubled Blaine Gabbert in his development at Quarterback.
For Joeckel to fall into Jacksonville’s position at number two meant he was too good a prospect to pass up.
Despite the constant rumours that the team were to go after Geno Smith and re-energise the Quarterback position and entire offensive unit, Joeckel is the smarter, and much more safe pick.
The Jaguars are expecting Joeckel to step in at the left tackle immediately, anchoring the team in it’s passing game, as well as making running lanes for running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who the offence is built around.
The 21-year old will be a star for the Jaguars, and could be the first piece of a puzzle that see’s them return to contention in the AFC East division.
