Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts III has been ruled out for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles with a hamstring injury.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts III has battled a hamstring injury for a while now, and his status was questionable for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Jaguars’ worst nightmare came true when it was revealed Shorts would be out for the season opener. This makes their receiving corps even more depleted with Justin Blackmon suspended indefinitely and Ace Sanders suspended four games.
This leaves the Jaguars with Marqise Lee and Allen Hurns as their starters, and they are both unproven rookies. This is a major reason why the Jaguars did not want to throw rookie quarterback Blake Bortles to the wolves.
Here is a tweet from the Jaguars’ official Twitter account confirming Shorts’ status.
