Jacques Kallis has joined will play in the Big Bash League after signing for the Sydney Thunder.
In what is a huge coup for the Big Bash League, South African legend Jacques Kallis has joined the Sydney Thunder on a two-season contract.
The 38-year-old retired from test cricket last year after a stellar career in which he amassed over 13,000 runs and took 292 wickets, but says he still has the hunger to succeed in the sport.
“The Big Bash looks fun and obviously of a very high standard,” he said.
Kallis is still part of South Africa’s one day plans and is looking to play at next year’s World Cup in Australia.
“I certainly am looking forward to it and would love to be part of a successful and enjoyable campaign with the Thunder. It is also a an opportunity to spend time before a major event, being the World Cup.
“I think it will be an advantage because it will give me an opportunity to get familiar with the conditions, but my priority is to have a fun and successful time with the Thunder.”
