Big-name Penrith signing set to return to the NRL after a brief hiatus.
Penrith Panthers coach Ivan Cleary has not ruled out bringing Jamal Idris into the starting side when his team clashes with the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL this weekend.
Idris has been a notable omission from all Panthers’ games for the past six weeks after having personal troubles away from the game, and rumors of a bender on the Gold Coast.
The 23-year-old did play in the NSW Cup last weekend and has been named for Windsor again, however, Clearly said he would leave the door open for Idris’ return to the top grade if he though it warranted it.
“It’s something we’re monitoring each day as we go along,” said Cleary on Thursday ahead of his team’s departure to Auckland.
“He’ll definitely play in one of the grades this week but we don’t want to rush him, that’s for sure. It’s more than just football we’re talking here.
