Ahead of this week’s Champions League second leg, Manchester City stopper Joe Hart believes that his side can get a historic result in the Nou Camp, and go on to catch Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table, reports CaughtOffside.

Despite being defeated 2-1 in the first leg, Manuel Pellgrini’s side were boasted by Hart’s late penalty save, which denied Lionel Messi giving the Spanish side a seemingly unassailable lead, ahead of the Nou Camp rematch. Nevertheless, City go into the second leg knowing that they are yet to win in their three previous meetings, but that statistic does not faze the England international.
“We’re going to have a right go at it. We gave them a real run for their money when we calmed down and got into the game in the second half. They’re not expecting an easy night. We’re going there to win,” Hart explained.
To some, progression in the Champions League may seem like a negative if City intend to clinch their third Premier League title this season, as rivals Chelsea – who already have a strong five point lead at the top of the table – can now concentrate entirely on the league, following their own European exit this past week. Hart believes that making it to the last eight will actually benefit the side in both competitions, heading into the final part of the season.
“Of course we can catch Chelsea. We’ve proven that in the two times we’ve won the league,” he added.
