It was yesterday stated that Chelsea had a £25m bid for John Stones rejected by Everton, but Jose Mourinho isn’t expected to have conceded defeat in the chase for the youngster’s signature.
In an update on the speculation, it’s being suggested that the Toffees could be willing to grant Stones an exit but – as expected – it won’t come cheap for the Blues.
In reports cited by the Daily Star, Roberto Martinez, the Everton manager, will demand £30m and a Chelsea player for the centre-back to seal a transfer to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Martinez, according to the report, is desperate to keep hold of the England international, but knows that if a sizeable third bid comes in, the club could be powerless to resist.
