Chelsea have found it difficult to convince Everton to sell 21-year-old defender John Stones, as they have had their first two bids rejected.
And it will not get any easier for the Blues to land Stones, as Manchester United and Manchester City are also entering the race, according to ESPN FC.
The Mirror reports that City are preparing to pounce on an opportunity to swoop for Stones if Chelsea get close to securing a deal.
Meanwhile, The Guardian claims that Man United are keen on bringing the defender to Old Trafford.
Everton have stated that their star defender is not for sale, but they may still be willing to sell him if he becomes the most expensive defender in British history.
The Toffees are reported to be holding out for £34m, which may push Chelsea out of the race as they have so far only been willing to go to £26m.
However, Blues boss Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he wants to add a defender this summer and is seriously interested in Stones.
United may still become a major player in the game, though, as they now have to look elsewhere for a defender because Sergio Ramos will be staying with Real Madrid.
