Chelsea target John Stones will seek a £38m release clause when he begins talks with Everton over a new deal, according to reports.
Stones was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window, but the Toffees stood firm and reportedly rejected four separate bids from the Premier League champions.
The 21-year-old handed in a transfer request, but it was rejected by Everton.
According to The Daily Mail, Stones will demand a £38m release clause be inserted into a new long-term deal.
Chelsea’s final offer for the England international is understood to have been £38m, and it’s unknown whether Everton will cave into Stones’ demands.
The report claims that Stones’ current £30k-a-week wage will be almost doubled should he sign a new deal at Goodison Park, though it seems likely the former Barnsley man will at some point end up at Stamford Bridge.
