Everton defender John Stones has become virtually impossible to sign, as Chelsea have already had two bids of £20m and £26m rejected.
However, the Blues may still have a chance at landing him as The Mirror reports that the Toffees are willing to sell the 21-year-old defender for £34m.
Chelsea seem to have lowered their interest in Stones, as manager Jose Mourinho implied that the club would not come back with a third bid.
They have also turned their attention to Augsburg defender Baba Rahman, who is reportedly close to transferring to Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho has been keen on adding a defender to his squad for a long time, despite the Blues finishing with the best defence during their title run last season.
However, Chelsea’s underwhelming pre-season and 2-2 draw against Swansea City on the opening day is sure to keep Mourinho on his toes, although Manchester United retain an interest in Stones.
Everton also had a disappointing start to their season with a 2-2 draw against Watford.
