Galatasaray’s Wesley Sneijder would benefit from Blues switch says Van Gaal.
Netherlands boss Louis Van Gaal has urged playmaker Wesley Sneijder to join Chelsea in January to boost his chances of finding form for the national team.
Sneijder joined Turkish outfit Galatasaray in January but his form has suffered since the move and he has struggled to hold down a place in the Netherlands’ first team.
Sneijder, 29, was linked with a reunion with former Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho over the summer and Van Gaal believes a move to Chelsea to work under the Portuguese would benefit the playmaker.
“I know Chelsea and Jose Mourinho want Sneijder,” Van Gaal is quoted as saying to talkSPORT.
“In my opinion, if possible Sneijder should leave Galatasaray and join Chelsea.
“Playing under Mourinho again would improve his performances and help him regain his form for the national team.”
The Blues have a host of options in attacking midfield, including Willian, Juan Mata, Kevin de Bruyne, Oscar and Eden Hazard.
