Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan has been hit with the news that he will now miss up to nine months of football after being forced to undergo another knee operation, the Daily Mirror reports.

The young full-back, who initially picked up his injury at the start of the season, and after looking as though he was on course for a return he was made to take a visit to specialist Andy Williams in London.
He left the hospital on Wednesday evening on crutches, which he will have to use for the next eight weeks, which will no doubt come as a huge blow having just returned to training in March.
Though he had not been feeling any pain, a scan showed that there was an underlying problem that could come back to haunt him further down the line if left untreated. It had first been thought that surgery may not be necessary, but a second opinion confirmed that he would need to go under the knife once more.
