A swap like this could be absolutely perfect for both Man United and Chelsea.
After it was reported that Everton’s star defender John Stones had turned in a transfer request, Chelsea were quick to make a bid. But Man United have a plan to hijack a transfer with a swap Everton could find too good to refuse.
According to the Metro, Man United have offered 23-year-old defensive ace Phil Jones as part of a swap for John Stones. The move comes as Chelsea are reportedly preparing a bid between £33-40 million for the highly-rated Everton defender.
Stones was a nominee for the 2014 Golden Boy award, losing out to Raheem Sterling. He is seen by many Chelsea fans as a perfect fit to eventually replace John Terry.
Phil Jones, a player once dubbed by Sir Alex Ferguson as having the potential to be the best Man United player ever, has made 94 appearances for the club since he was acquired for a £16.5 million transfer back in 2011. Back in July, he signed a four-year contract extension to stay at Man United.
Should Everton accept the proposed offer it would certainly be considered a piece of sweet revenge for the Red Devils after Chelsea hijacked their deal for Barcelona’s Pedro.
