Chelsea summer signing Asmir Begovic endured a terribile debut for his new team on Wednesday, coming on as a second-half substitute before conceding a quartet of goals in a 4-2 defeat to MLS outfit New York Red Bulls.
Begovic – an £8m purchase from Stoke City – has been drafted in as a replacement for back-up stopper Petr Cech, who moved to Arsenal earlier this summer.
However, judging by his first appearance in a Chelsea shirt, Begovic is a long way below Cech in terms of ability.
After watching Begovic’s shaky debut, which including the error in the video below, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho leaped to the Bosnian’s defence, unconvincingly.
“First of all I think he was tired,” Mourinho told report “When goalkeeper are very tired, co-ordination is low, agility doesn’t exist, speed reaction doesn’t exist.”
