Mourinho lines up Varane as Luiz replacement.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is keen on signing 21-year old Real Madrid starlet Raphael Varane as a direct replacement for the PSG bound David Luiz, reports the Metro.
Mourinho, who rates the French international as the best young defender in the world, would use the £50m funds raised from the imminent transfer of Luiz to push for the sale of his former player.
The 51-year-old thrust Varane into the limelight in Madrid when he signed the central defender from Lens for the Los Blancos in 2011, and is said to have a good relationship with the Frenchman.
Varane has also fallen down the pecking order at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu with his manager Carlo Ancelotti preferring the likes of Pepe and Sergio Ramos at the heart of his defence.
The Italian boss most definitely sees the centre-back as a star for the future though, and it would take a monumental offer from the Blues for Los Blancos to consider selling one of their brightest young players.
