Lampard has probably been the best goalscoring midfielder in Premier League history, and began to start finding the back of the net regularly under Mourinho. The Portuguese employed Makelele in an anchoring role, which enabled Lampard to get forward to devastating effect. In the manager’s first three seasons in charge, Lampard bagged sixty goals in all competitions, helping the Blues to back-to-back titles.
