Liverpool
It’s been an odd season for Rodgers and Liverpool with so much of it looking dour, uninspiring and far off the mark.
Then came the tactical switch, the moment of inspiration that highlighted Rodgers’ tactical nous and understanding of the modern game and got Liverpool right back in the mix.
But then almost immediately another dip.
Would the real Liverpool Football Club please stand up?
It might not be terminal for the club but it certainly raises questions over whether the Northern Irishman can sustain his team’s title challenge beyond bursts and for an entire season – and by extension actually win something.
One man who can is Klopp, and whilst this season at Dortmund has been disappointing it’s clearly the anomaly and not the norm.
Another plus; given Liverpool’s absolute abject failure in the transfer market over recent windows, perhaps they could use someone of Klopp’s track record who time after time finds those inexpensive, rough diamonds that need only polishing into world class stars.
