Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested for possession of marijuana, marking his third violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Troubled Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon dug himself a deeper hole when he was arrested for possession of marijuana.
The former Oklahoma State star was arrested for the third time, and this also marks his third violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Blackmon had previously been arrested for a DUI in 2010 and violated the substance abuse policy in the 2012 offseason, which caused him to be suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season.
Another violation later in 2013 caused Blackmon to receive an indefinite suspension, and general manager David Caldwell ruled out Blackmon playing in 2014. This has been further cemented with the receiver’s latest arrest.
The Jaguars planning for Blackmon to be out of the equation was apparent when they drafted two wide receivers in the second round of the draft.
Since Ace Sanders also got in trouble for violating the substance abuse policy, he will be suspended for four games.
This means that rookies Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson will likely receive immediate playing time since Cecil Shorts is the only proven receiver remaining on the Jaguars’ roster.
