Madrid could be tempted by Juve’s midfield duo.
Real Madrid’s interest in Juventus duo Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal could give the Serie A champions the advantage over Arsenal when it comes to signing Gonzalo Higuain, reports CalcioMercato.
Whilst the Gunners seemed like the favourites to land the Argentinian after meeting with Higuain and his father in Paris.
However, Madrid’s interest in Pogba and Vidal could put Juve in the driving seat to sign the 25-year-old, but only if they are willing to negotiate a deal for the midfielders.
This of course is easier said than done, with La Bianconeri having won back-to-back Italian league titles for the past two seasons and wanting to improve their squad as supposed to taking it apart.
Vidal signed for Juve two years ago for £11m from Bayer Leverkusen and last campaign proved he was a top-class midfielder with 45 appearances in all competitions, which yielded 15 goals and 12 assists.
Pogba meanwhile was a rarely used and little known player at Manchester United up until last summer, before a free transfer to Turin revitalised the Frenchman’s career.
Under the management of Antonio Conte the 20-year-old featured 39 times in 2012/13 and netted five goals in Serie A.
With both midfielders playing such an important role at Juve it is unknown whether Conte would be willing to part with them, although the coach may be swayed if it signaled a move for hit-man Higuain.
The Argentina international scored 16 times in just 28 La Liga games this season and with age on his side, it is easy to see why the striker is such a sought after target for both the Italian champions and Arsenal.
