It’s the Derby d’Italia in Serie A on Sunday, as old rivals Juventus and Inter Milan face each other in Turin with pride and points at stake.
The Bianconeri are still top of the table heading into February, but will be keen on extending their lead by bouncing back from the disappointing draw against Lazio last week which saw their 12-game winning streak come to an end.
Gianluigi Buffon was sent off in that game and so he will be suspended for Sunday’s clash, while Giorgio Chiellini is ruled out with a thigh injury.
In contrast, the Nerazzurri have been in terrible form in 2014 so far, scoring just one goal in that time and they have yet to win since the turn of the year.
The pressure continues to build on Walter Mazzarri, and it doesn’t get any easier for the tactician as newly recruited Brazilian midfield Hernanes will not make his debut for the club following his move from Lazio on Friday, while fellow new signing Danilo D’Ambrosio in injured.
Similarly for Juve, striker Pablo Osvaldo did not complete his move in time and will have to wait until next week to make his first appearance for the club.
There has been an average of 2.4 goals scored per game across the last 10 meetings between these two, and while Juve have won five of those previous encounters, expect goals and controversy as ever between two old rivals in Italy.
