Serie A champions Juventus are targeting the signing of Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski on a season-long loan deal, report the Mail, after the German international was left out of the Gunners’ squad for their 2-2 draw at Everton on Saturday evening.
The Old Lady are hoping to secure the services of the former Koln man on a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent basis, as the new boss in Turin looks to bolster his squad ahead of the start of the new Serie A campaign next weekend, with Juve fighting for a fourth consecutive Scudetto.
Podolski has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona and, with Theo Walcott also due to return from injury, his chance of a game in his favoured wing-forward position look slim.
However, Arsene Wenger may still be keen to keep Podolski due to his ability to cover Olivier Giroud in attack, a position where the Gunners lack depth, and also the German’s popularity with both the club’s supporters and his teammates in North London.
