Head Coach Any Reid has said that the idea is not out of the question, the franchise will listen to all offers. The Kansas City Chiefs are in a good and bad position this off-season.
They hold the number one pick in the upcoming draft, and can use this pick to seriously upgrade their roster with an elite talent from the college ranks. The problem is, there isn’t much elite talent in the draft this season, especially at the positions they need.
That is why head coach Andy Reid has said that he will listen to offers from other teams who are willing to give up picks and players to move into that coveted spot.
“Listen, yeah, we’re going to evaluate everything,” Reid said to NFL.com.
“We’re just not going to give it away. So we’d have to see what people throw our way. It’s a pretty valuable pick, I’d say.”
This could be a very smart by the Chiefs to get a lot of picks and take advantage of talent that may drop down the board come draft day. They can acquire a whole number of picks, at least five, plus potentially a player, and really go after players that can make impacts immediately.
The Chiefs have a number of holes they need to address this year, and instead of picking one great player, they can use a trade to select four five very good players, and make an instant impact for the team.
It is clear that Reid would rather not trade the pick away as they must have a clear understanding of who they want to select already (most probably Texas A&M tackle Luke Joeckel), but the offer was too good to turn down, Kansas should not hesitate in accepting the trade.
