This move comes as no surprise since the Chiefs recently signed wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to a five-year, $55 million deal.
Bowe was set to make $10.75 million in the 2015 season since he had signed a $56 million contract with the Chiefs in 2013.
It was a no brainer for the Chiefs to part ways with him though since no wide receiver caught a touchdown pass from Alex Smith in the 2014 season.
Maclin is sure to break that trend as he reunites with head coach Andy Reid, who oversaw the beginning of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Bowe himself acknowledged his release in a thankful statement to the Chiefs on Twitter.
