Karim Benzema has finally addressed the rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal.
Many gossip columns over the summer transfer window were dedicated to the Gunners’ reported interest in the Real Madrid striker.
Speculation claimed that Arsenal were going to make a £40m bid for the France international before he committed his future to Los Blancos.
And Benzema has insisted that talk of him leaving the La Liga champions never came up.
He told Telefoot: “There was nothing in the talk of a transfer away from Madrid. I’m happy at my current club, it’s the best in the world.
“I’ll continue to work here and be happy where I am.”
Arsenal fans were furious that manager Arsene Wenger did not buy a striker over the summer and were convinced that Benzema was the man to fire them to the Premier League title.
The 27-year-old has scored 135 goals in 282 games for Madrid since joining from Lyon in 2009.
