Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is staying in Spain for now, but Arsenal are not giving up in their pursuit of the Frenchman.
According to Fichajes[The Metro], the Gunners have been cleared to sign the former Lyon man in January, when the transfer window re-opens for a month.
Benzema was expected to be sold for approximately £50m if he were to make the jump to the Emirates, but the striker has indicated that he is happy at Bernabeu thus far.
Real Madrid are still willing to listen to offers for the 27-year-old though, as he is expected to still command a high value.
Benzema has already scored two goals in two appearances for the La Liga giants this season, which makes him an enticing option for a team in need of extra depth in the front third.
Danny Welbeck will be out for up to six months after knee surgery, putting manager Arsene Wenger under even more pressure to make a move in the winter after a quiet summer.
