Arsenal are still hoping to make one more splash signing before the start of the new Premier League season, as they continue to pursue Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
According to The Metro, the Gunners may be close to reaching a deal as team officials are reportedly flying out to Spain to complete a £35.2m deal by tomorrow.
It was previously announced that the Gunners would sign the 27-year-old striker to a four-year deal if they are able to secure him.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has continually denied interest in signing the French international, but it’s looking even more likely that the Gunners will complete a deal to end the transfer saga.
Benzema has been a consistent force for Real Madrid, scoring 133 goals in 281 appearances over the span of six seasons.
The Gunners are keen to add a world-class striker to its ranks and to take some of the goalscoring responsibility off Olivier Giroud.
Arsenal have already improved in between the sticks with the signing longtime Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, who shined in the Gunners’ FA Community Shield win against the defending champions.
