United boss Louis van Gaal is looking to bolster his attack in the off-season as the Red Devils plan an assault on the Premier League title next term.
With Radamel Falcao’s disappointing loan stint now over, The Mirror reports United are looking to replace the Colombian with Benzema.
Benzema has been a long-time Manchester United target and he is believed to be number one on the club’s transfer wishlist this summer.
The 27-year-old joined the La Liga giants from Lyon in 2009 and has scored 87 goals in 188 league appearances for the club.
United have also been heavily linked with Tottenham star Harry Kane, however the England international announced his intention to stay at White Hart Lane next season.
“Tottenham is a big club and that’s the way I see it,” Kane is quoted as saying by Daily Express.
“There’s a very bright future ahead and I’m happy. The whole team is happy and we are all heading in the same direction.”
