Arsenal have not made any major transfer deals with anyone since signing longtime Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, but they have heavily pursued Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
According to the Daily Express, Arsenal will not have any luck signing Benzema as Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez has ruled out a transfer.
Benzema had been linked to rumours that he would be sold to Arsenal on a £46m deal even though Gunners boss Arsene Wenger denied interest in signing the French international.
“No. Honestly no,” Wenger said when asked if the Gunners have a chance to sign Benzema.
It was never a high possibility that Arsenal would be able to land the 27-year-old striker, as he is happy with his current situation in Bernabeu.
Benitez confirmed that Real have no plans to sell Benzema.
“He will stay with us, I can’t see any reason why he would leave. We are very happy with him,” Benitez said.
Arsenal will have to look elsewhere to upgrade their striker depth, as they cannot rest easy with Olivier Giroud as their main man up top.
