Real Madrid may allow Karim Benzema to join Arsenal should the Premier League side break its own transfer fee record, according to reports.
Benzema has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates this summer, but The Daily Mail reports the Gunners will have to surpass the £42.5m it paid to prize Mesut Ozil away from the Bernabeu two years ago.
The report suggests Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is keen for new manager Rafael Benitez to play Gareth Bale in a more central role, and Benzema could even be dropped to the bench to make away for a front two of Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Benzema has an excellent goalscoring record with the La Liga heavyweights, but Perez is keen to justify the £86m Real Madrid spent on Bale in 2013.
Should Arsenal stump up a transfer fee of £45m, The Daily Mail reports the top brass at Real Madrid could be persuaded to let the Frenchman go.
