Arsenal will raid Real Madrid once more in January…
A huge Premier League club, widely though to be Arsenal, are desperate to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, his agent told Le 10 Sport.
The 25-year-old French forward has struggled this season, and is reportedly unhappy at the Bernabeu. Real Madrid’s fans have even booed the striker at times, and would prefer young Spaniard Alvaro Morata to be selected ahead of him.
“A very important Premier League club is after Karim,” said Francois Gallardo, Benzema’s agent.
“This club wants the transfer to happen this winter, but if this is not possible, then next summer at the latest.
“The offer will be around €50million [£43million].”
Despite currently topping the Premier League following an excellent start to the season, Arsenal are very thin up top, and currently have only Nicklas Bendtner as backup to the in form Olivier Giroud.
Benzema is proven at the very highest level, and would immediately compete with Giroud for a starting spot at the Emirates.
The Frenchman has bagged 91 times in 193 outings for the Spanish giants since his massive £30m move back in 2009. He’s also assisted 51 goals, but this year he’s only managed four so far in all competitions.
A move to Arsenal could revitalise the striker, like it has done for brilliant German playmaker Mesut Ozil, who similarly joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in the summer.
