Brook looking to fulfil ambition of becoming world champion on Saturday night…
Kell Brook has insisted that he is ready to produce a shock when he takes on Shawn Porter for the IBF welterweight title in Carson, California on Saturday night.
The 28-year-old has been left frustrated after injuries have derailed his opportunity at a title shot previously, but he finally has a belt in his sights as he looks to inflict defeat on Porter and bring back the IBF strap to Sheffield.
The unbeaten Brit is aware of the power that Porter possesses and is prepared for any tactics that the American will bring to the ring, but ultimately he believes that this is now his time to shine and deliver the best performance of his career thus far.
Speaking in an interview on Ringside with Sky Sports, Brook insists that he is ready to “shock a lot of people” having been written off against the threat that Porter poses, particularly because his detractors claim he has not been in with such high level opposition previously.
The current champion dismissed the challenge of Paulie Malignaggi last time out in emphatic fashion, and Brook believes that many people wrongly claim that Porter is the next big thing.
He is confident that the fight will bring the best out of him as he “goes through gears that he has never been through before” to claim the title and go on to become a superstar of boxing.
Brook has suggested that he isn’t sure whether or not he will be able to stop the fight in the first round or whether it will take a 12-round dog-fight to get the job done. Regardless, he is ready for all possibilities and will not rest until his hand is held aloft as the new world champion.
