Although seven teams have completed a perfect season in both the regular season and the NCAA Tournament, no team has done so with a 40-0 record. Indiana last finished with a perfect 32-0 record while winning the 1976 NCAA championship.
Due to finishing the regular season with a 30-0 record while leading Kentucky to an SEC championship, head coach John Calipari has won the AP Coach of the Year award.
The Wildcats are set to face Wisconsin in the Final Four as they look to achieve perfection and make history as the first team in college basketball history to go 40-0.
Calipari had previously led Kentucky to a championship in 2012 while taking them back to the finals in 2014 as a No. 8 seed, and he also took Memphis to the finals in 2008.
