City are looking to bounce back after their disappointing loss to West Ham United last weekend, and de Bruyne gave Manuel Pellegrini’s side a huge boost with a smart finish to give them the lead.
However, Tottenham will feel aggrieved as replays showed that the Belgian international should have been given offside as he raced in on goal to open the scoring.
Nevertheless, the hosts were on level terms shortly before half-time as Eric Dier struck home from outside the box to give them a huge boost heading into the second half.
Spurs received a favourable decision of their own as right-back Kyle Walker looked to be in an offside position himself in the build-up to the equaliser, but both teams will now hope to push on and claim all three points in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.
