Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has signed a deal to play the entire Caribbean Premier League season with the St Lucia Zouks.
Pietersen will return to the Zouks for a second season of the CPL, and the news could spell the end of his time with County side Surrey.
“Being involved in CPL 2014 was a fantastic experience and I thoroughly enjoyed playing for the St. Lucia Zouks, albeit briefly,” Pietersen is quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
“This year I will be available for the duration of the tournament so I hope to be able to make a bigger impact and give the Zouks fans something to shout about. The CPL is a very special event and I can’t wait to get back out there to experience more of ‘the biggest party in sport'”
Pietersen’s deal with Surrey ended at the end of the 2014 season, and with the club having confirmed the signing of Sri Lankan superstar Kumar Sangakkara, it is now highly unlikely he will return.
The CPL runs through the months of June and July, meaning that there is a strong possibility that the 34-year-old will not feature in English domestic cricket this summer.
