Controversial English cricketer Kevin Pietersen rediscovered his high scoring form in the opening match of the Big Bash.
The exiled international hit four sixes and two fours in just 44 balls for Melbourne Stars, his best figures since a Natwest T20 Blast match in Surrey last year.
His impressive hit was in stark contrast to England captain Alastair Cook’s innings against Sri Lanka in England’s recent One Day International series and the South African born batsman taunted the England team selectors following his performance.
“Someone told me the England selectors were meeting this morning,” Pietersen said. “I hope they’ve got a screen on.”
Pietersen’s words were immediately picked up by former England captain Michael Vaughn who suggested the ECB could do worse than try and win Pietersen back.
A lad called Kevin playing in Aussie could improve @ECB_cricket World Cup Chances….. #justsaying
