When the batsman damaged his thumb the recently dropped star was quick to respond.
The controversy surrounding Kevin Pietersen’s expulsion from the England cricket team doesn’t look set to die down anytime soon as the 33-year-old trolls the team.
The Three Lions are currently on their first tour since Pietersen was dropped and secured a 2-1 ODI victory over the West Indies on Thursday after a strong performance from Joe Root.
However, when the batsman had to take a timeout after being struck on the thumb by a ball from Ravi Rampaul there was fear for the 22-year-old’s fitness.
Root went onto to score a century and alongside a 99 from Jos Buttler led the tourists to victory, but it has since emerged that the Yorkshire star’s right thumb is broken and he will miss the upcoming three-match Twenty20 series with the West Indians as a result.
With Pietersen playing a similar role as the injured ace in the team, the South African-born big hitter didn’t miss the opportunity to troll the ECB via Twitter.
Phone is on charge..would hate to miss a phone call this evening seen as I don’t have a voicemail!

Phone just rang and it was a private number(excited)…answered it and it was my mum! She said – ‘I’d pick you, darling’.. Grrrrr!

Pietersen was axed by the national team, along with head coach Andy Flowers, following the disappointing 5-0 whitewash defeat to Australia in the 2013/14 Ashes.
However, many still think the Sussex man is the country’s best player and that the ECB were too quick to sack the batsman.
