Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero would make for an interesting addition to Barcelona’s already star-studded line-up at the Camp Nou next season, if recent reports in the Spanish press are to be believed.

If reports in both the Spanish and English press prove correct, then runaway La Liga leaders FC Barcelona have been casting covetous glances towards two of Premier League champions Manchester City’s most in-demand performers, captain Vincent Kompany and Argentina international Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero.
These reports are not new, but will nonetheless be concerning those now running the mega-rich Premier League outfit, which funnily enough happens to be one-time Barcelona duo Txiki Begiristain (director of football) and Ferran Soriano (chief executive).
By all accounts, the Catalan club are preparing their end-of-season transfer strategy at present, with centre back and centre forward both positions that the Spaniards feel the club need to strengthen this summer.
And, while a host of other big-name players from throughout Planet Football have been linked with possible moves to Camp Nou when the transfer window reopens, it is understood that Barca director of football Andoni Zubizarreta has set his sights on recruiting Kompany and Aguero from Eastlands, both of who would be sure to add to Barcelona’s current playing abilities.
Anyone who has watched even a minute of Barcelona in action this campaign will know that while they may be an absolute joy to watch going forward, defensively at times they can be porous, to say the very least, and with inspirational skipper Carles Puyol, 35, not getting any younger, a new commanding central defender to play alongside silky-smooth Spain international Gerard Pique is most definitely transfer priority No 1 for the club.
And who better to take on that tough assignment that City’s rock-solid Belgium international Kompany, while conversely in attack, the Catalans have been crying out for a fox in the box, a real goal poacher with the ability to operate in the six-yard box, especially with current attacker David Villa set to depart Barca this summer.
Aguero is surely the ideal man to fill that void, although Barca may have to beat off interest from arch-rivals Real Madrid, who are also said to be tracking the player.
