One-time Everton attacker had reportedly asked for a move away from the north west.
Unsettled Manchester United front man Wayne Rooney looks like still being at Old Trafford next season, says the Sunday Mirror.
The England international caused outrage with the Red Devils supporters by allegedly asking for a transfer away from the north west last month, a request that was subsequently and immediately rejected by the club’s then manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.
However, with the veteran Red Devils boss having now decided to finally call it quits after more than 26 years in charge of the Premier League giants, to be replaced at the helm by former Everton boss David Moyes, Rooney’s situation has changed somewhat.
Moyes, of course, was the man who handed the 27-year-old his top-flight debut with Everton and there is now a belief at the club that the two can work out a plan together that will see the attacker finish his career at United.
Rooney has netted an impressive 197 goals for the 20-time English champions in only 400 games since arriving at United in 2004.
